The Modern Table Limited - Terms and Conditions
1. Booking with The Modern Table Ltd
1a. All bookings must be confirmed in writing by the client (via email).
1b. A 10% booking deposit is required to secure your date. A figure based on the initial
menu choice will be provided to the client in writing (email) by The Modern Table Ltd once your confirmation has been received (1a). This deposit will be deducted from the total costs and is refundable up until 60 days prior to the event date. (Please see payment terms below).
1c. Once the clients deposit has been received, a receipt will be issued by The Modern Table Ltd together with a formal confirmation letter which will include the draft menu, event summary and estimated costs based on the number of guests indicated at the time by the client.
2. Payment terms
2a. Final guest numbers must be confirmed to The Modern Table no later than 14 days prior to the event. After this time we are happy to accept any increases however, no reduction will be possible.
2b. Payment of 75% (includes the 10% booking fee) is required for all catering services to be provided by The Modern Table Ltd, 12 days prior to the event date.
2c. The remaining 25% is due within three days after the event having taken place, along with any additional charges ie. staffing etc. These will be sent in an amended invoice the day after the event.
3. Cancellation charge
3a. In the unfortunate event of a booking having to be cancelled, confirmation in writing (email) will be needed to The Modern Table Ltd and your deposit will be retained if less than 60 days before the event (1b).
If the cancellation occurs 30-60 days from the event date, 50% of the event cost will be charged and the client liable for.
If the cancellation occurs 12-30 days from the event date, 75% of the event cost will be charged and the client liable for.
If cancellation occurs 11 days or less from the event date, 100% of the event cost will be charged and the client liable for.
3b. In case of any government restrictions to the event, specifically - a pandemic or extreme illness (death or dying) in the wedding party, the deposit will be held until a new date is found and is agreed on by both parties. If a date isn’t able to be found then a full refund of this deposit will be given if over 60 days. Less than 60 days the deposit won’t be refundable. Any further monies received 12 days prior to the event will be refunded or held for a new date apart from any costs incurred by The Modern Table already.
4. Dietary requirements and allergies
4a. The Modern Table Ltd will endeavour to provide suitable adaptions to a clients menu for any guests with dietary requirements or allergies. We cannot however, take responsibility for any guests needs unless advised in advance (no less than 48 hours prior to the event).
4b. The Modern Table Ltd cannot guarantee that any product on the menu is totally allergen free as The Modern Table Ltd does not work in an allergen free kitchen/environment.
5. Clients food and drinks
5a. We accept no liability for any food supplied to the client by any other caterer or food products supplied by the client themselves in addition to those arranged by The Modern Table Ltd.
5b. The Modern Table Ltd will remove any food left from the event provided by them. This removes any claims of they have no control over how it is stored or kept after they have left the site.
5c. The Modern Table Ltd is not responsible for any bottles/recycling products produce from alcohol/drink consumption, this is the clients responsibility to organise removal.
6. Clients use of The Modern Table Ltd property and clients personal property
6a. The client agrees to pay for any loss or damage to any equipment, crockery, cutlery, or glassware supplied by The Modern Table Ltd for the event, including any issues caused by the clients guests of other suppliers.
6b. The Modern Table Ltd will not be held responsible for the theft, lost or damage to any personal effects of the clients or clients guests.
7. Liability of The Modern Table Ltd
7a. The Modern Table Ltd accepts no liability under any claim whatsoever arising (be it negligence or otherwise) for any loss over the figure of the existing The Modern Table Ltd Public Liability Limit of Indemnity. Note that this figure may change from time to time, and is available upon request together with a copy of our certificate.
8. Force majeure
8a. The Modern Table Ltd shall incur no liability to the client if performance of the contract is prevented or hindered by any cause whatsoever beyond The Modern Table Ltd control and in particular but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing by act of fire, flood, subsidence, sabotage, accident, strike or lock out and shall not be liable for any loss or damage resulting there from suffered by the client.
9. Future changes to terms and conditions
9a. The Modern Table Ltd reserves the right to change our terms and conditions when necessary due to the continual evolving nature of our business. It is your responsibility to ensure you are up to date with our terms and conditions.
